Directions to the Festival
The Kootenay Storytelling Festival is being held in the historic village of Procter. If you have never been to our village, it’s located a little off the beaten track. So give yourself plenty of time to get there! Procter is on the South Shore of the West Arm of Kootenay Lake, directly opposite Balfour. Take Highway 3A along the North Shore between Nelson and Balfour, and turn off at the Harrop Ferry. The Ferry will take you across to Harrop and you follow the paved road you are on for 8 Km until you reach Procter Village. Early arrivals can enjoy coffee and baked goods at the Village Bakery. Enjoy your trip!
Festival Parking...
As you enter Procter, you will be greeted by volunteers who will direct you to the parking area. If you have passengers who are unable to walk this distance, please ask a volunteer for access to the side streets for a drop off.
Festival Information Booth...
Upon arrival, please have your festival ticket ready and go directly to the information booth for a Schedule of Events. Please wear your ticket at all times during the festival, as it ensures admission to all the storytelling performances. If you have a child participating in the Children’s Festival, please arrive at the information booth no later than 9:45 am.
Performance Schedule...
Performances will start at 10 am sharp and continue to 4:30 pm. Stories last approximately 20 minutes and will be presented in four adjacent locations. There will be no admittance to a performance once it has begun, so as not to disturb the Storyteller. The Schedule of Events, available at the Festival Information Booth, will contain details about times and locations for each Storyteller.
